Change Log

Patch 1.7.2

  • Nerf: only Basic Attacks cause Survivors to drop their Items now.

Patch 4.1.0

  • Rework:
    • Change: instead of causing the dropped Item to lose its Charges over time, the Item itself is now on a timer, which causes it to be consumed by The Entity once the timer elapses.
The timer is reset once a Survivor picks the Item up.
The Survivor who originally owned the Item will see a Status Icon next to their Perk Diamond, displaying the timer on the Item.
    • Buff: now reveals the Aura of dropped Items to the Killer.
The Aura ranges from white to red, depending on how close the Item is to being consumed by The Entity.

Patch 5.0.0

  • Rework:
    • Change: due to the introduction of Limited Items, the behaviour of Franklin's Demise was partially reverted to its previous iteration, causing dropped Items to once again lose Charges over time, rather than being consumed over time.

Patch 7.0.0

  • Nerf: no longer affects Limited Items as they now have their own slot.

Limited Items

Before Patch 7.0.0, some Limited Items were a special case, as not all of them were affected by Franklin's Demise:

Trivia

  • Franklin's Demise will show a debuff indicator on the Survivor's HUD with a timer on it.
With the Rework in Patch 5.0.0, this timer now corresponds to how many Charges the Item will have left after picking it up again (assuming it was initially dropped with a full Charge).
  • An Item dropped by Franklin's Demise are not protected by the White WardIconFavors whiteWard Offering, if a Survivor fails to pick it back up in time or leaves the Trial without recovering it.
  • Before Patch 7.0.0, CenobiteIconHelpLoading cenobite players would use Franklin's Demise to force Survivors to drop the Lament ConfigurationIconItems lamentConfiguration without the need of downing the Survivor.
This would also override The Cenobite automatically picking it up after downing a Survivor carrying it, allowing him to interact with the Configuration on his own accord before interacting with the downed Survivor.

Development

  • Franklin's Demise is a reference to Franklin Hardesty, a Character in the The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise.
  • According to its filename, Franklin's Demise was originally called "Franklin's Loss".
