The following is a list of hints and tips for Dead By Daylight gameplay.

Survivor Tips

  • You can silently vault if you are not running.
  • You can enter a closet silently if you are not running.
  • You can free a fellow survivor from the killer's grasp by stunning him with a wooden pallet or blinding him with the flashlight.
  • The hatch makes a buzzing sound so that you can easily locate it.
  • You can crawl to the exit gates or exit hatch and escape while downed.
  • Skill checks will make a sound before they trigger.
  • You don't need a first aid kit to heal another survivor.
  • More than one player can heal a injured survivor for a faster recovery rate.
  • Up to 4 survivors can work on a power generator as long as its not abstracted.
  • The 2 exits will always spawn at the boundary of the map.
  • A common tactic is to let one survivor open the door while the rest of his teammates hide. If the killer comes he'll only see that survivor while the rest of his teammates are safe. Don't group up at the exit door!
  • The exit hatch unlocks when your the last survivor or there's only one power generator left to repair.
  • Try not to sprint, sprinting renders a trail only visible to the killer to follow you.
  • Try sprinting into a locker without hiding in it, and then run, (not sprint) run in a different direction to juke the killer off of you.

Killer Tips

  • If a survivor hides in a locker for some time, ravens will perch around that locker.
  • If a survivor is downed for some time ravens will circle over him, much like if they were vultures.
  • A widely used tactic is to set a trap below a hooked survivor, trapping another survivor if they attempt to rescue them.
  • You can also set a trap directly below a hooked survivor. If another survivor doesn't disarm the trap first, the hooked survivor will get caught in it the moment they are "rescued".
  • If a survivor has been injured, follow trails of blood left by the survivor before they heal to track and catch them.
